Our Mission:

Edheads will create unique, educational Web experiences designed to make hard-to-teach concepts understandable using the power and interactivity of the Internet. We will set a new standard for excellence by delivering in-depth content in a fresh, exciting style allowing the user to learn intuitively in an online environment.

Our Core Values:

We believe that the Internet is a powerful educational tool, which should be used to help students learn and teachers teach in exciting and unique ways. We create innovative learning experiences that motivate the student and promote additional learning and exploration beyond the classroom. We believe that students and teachers should be engaged in the pursuit of life-long learning that is both satisfying and enriching. We create the highest quality experiences online and continuously strive for excellence in everything we do.

Connections to Standards:

All the activities at the Edheads site will have connections to National and State standards in their teacher sections. Please look for these sections under each activity heading.

Edheads personnel:

Gail Wheatley, Executive Director
Gail has a passion for fun and informal education and a great deal of experience in informal learning institutions and science education. She brainstorms ideas with Eric, writes the grants, manages the projects overall, crunches lots of numbers and does the long term planning for Edheads. She also nags Eric for things like sock monsters, sets up testing dates, communicates with teachers, searches high and low for school district partners and regularly bakes caramel brownies as bribes.

Eric Bort, Creative Director
Eric is responsible for the fun and interesting graphics and much of the humor of the site, as well as its functionality. He brainstorms with Gail, struggles with file size, accomplishes all the technical stuff and fights regularly with his cat for space in his favorite chair. His background is in multimedia design, cat distraction development and interface design. He has extensive experience designing web sites, producing Flash animations and preventing Gail from imploding.

Eric and Gail both delight in watching the kids in our test audiences use the site. We are and will remain eternally grateful to our teacher and school district partners and funding organizations for allowing us to have jobs that don't feel like work!
